I read somewhere that telling a person, who has a drinking problem, to stop drinking is the same as telling a person, who has a cold, to stop coughing.
I thought it was a good way of describing it.
I think we can x-ray a "broken bone", but we can't x-ray "broken mind" is another good example of describing a mental health problem.

The challenging but often rewarding job of a mental health nurse is being celebrated at an inaugural national conference in Hamilton this week.
..."If you break a bone in your body an x-ray will show the extent of the injury and the recovery from that physical injury follows a usual pathway. However in mental health we are not able to x-ray a `broken mind' and maybe it is this unknown and uncertainty which contributes to the stigma and discrimination that many people with mental illness still experience today."...

County OKs kids' mental health plan
