I read somewhere that telling a person, who has a drinking problem, to stop drinking is the same as telling a person, who has a cold, to stop coughing.
I thought it was a good way of describing it.
I think we can x-ray a "broken bone", but we can't x-ray "broken mind" is another good example of describing a mental health problem.

The challenging but often rewarding job of a mental health nurse is being celebrated at an inaugural national conference in Hamilton this week.

However in mental health we are not able to x-ray a `broken mind' and maybe it is this unknown and uncertainty which contributes to the stigma and discrimination that many people with mental illness still experience today."...
